Can I use my own AI key in FairThen?
Yes, and it is how receipt scanning works in FairThen.
Go to Settings, then Advanced, and paste an API key from your own AI provider. Receipt scan then reads your receipts through your account with that provider.
How it works
The request goes straight from your phone to that provider. The key is stored only on your device and erased when you log out.
For those requests you are that provider's customer, so their limits, their costs and their data policy are the ones that apply.
The app asks before it sends anything. Before your first scan with each provider, it names the provider and the web address your receipt is going to, and sends nothing until you tap Allow. You can switch this off again in Settings, then Advanced, under Data sharing.
It changes the AI step and nothing else. The receipt photo is not saved to the bill or sent to our server. The items and amounts you keep are saved and synced like any other bill, under the usual Privacy Policy.
Where it is used
Receipt scan is the feature that uses AI today. It reads a photo of a receipt into an itemized bill, ready for you to check and assign.
